UKE Can Make Music
by Evie Boss © Bossetunes 2011
This is a 32 page booklet organized in a three-hole punched Duo-Tang folder. The songs are
indexed and arranged in groups of what chords are used. The front pocket contains a chart with
finger positions for 20 of the most commonly used chords. On the back of the chart are fun tips.
Topics: sizes of ukes, how to hold and tune, learning chords and how to read charts, helpful internet
sites, how to transpose chords if the key doesn’t work for your voice, Chords (with finger diagrams)
for 30 common children's songs:
Row Your Boat, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Are you Sleeping?, The Farmer in the Dell, The Wheels on the Bus, The Hokey
Pokey, Skip To My Lou, Sing a Song of Sixpence, Her We Go ‘Round the Mulberry Bush, Hush Little Baby, Do You Know the
Muffin Man?, My Bonnie, The Itsy Bitsy Spider, This Old Man, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Jingle Bells, Hickory Dickory Dock,
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (ABC’s),Humpty Dumpty, Hey Diddle Diddle, How Much is That Doggie in the Window?, On Top
of Spaghetti, I’ve Been Working on the Railroad, Yankee Doodle, Pop Goes the Weasel, Shortin’ Bread, Old MacDonald
Had a Farm, Oh Susanna, Billy Boy, 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall (universal melody for all nursery rhymes)
All of the songs in this book are in the public domain so you can
find most of these songs on the internet. But you will not find this
particular grouping at any one site nor in this user friendly way
for beginners. I developed this book because I was disappointed in
the books I had bought. So I created a simple song book to have you
playing and singing in no time! Twenty of the songs only use three
chords: C, G7, and F and ten songs only use the C and G7! Once you
master these chords there are numerous internet videos to help with
playing techniques.
May you always carry a song in your heart and a ukulele on your back!
